How hours are used
Your facility's hours are "Operating hours for this facility. They drive automations such as door auto-unlock, screen power and audio. Devices can take up to 15 minutes to pick up changes saved here." Set them once in Facility & System Configuration, and the features below follow them, so a change to your hours, such as a new late night or a holiday closure, reaches doors, screens and music without changing each one.
Quick reference
Where to find it: Settings (cog icon) → Facility & System Configuration → Facility Hours → Used by
Who can access: Users with Facility & System Configuration access at the facility
Purpose: See which features follow the facility's hours before you change them
Used by
The Used by chips at the top of Facility Hours show what follows the hours at this facility, for example 1 door, 2 screens and Audio (Sonos). Click the arrow next to them for the full list. A feature is listed only where the facility has its module.
| Feature | What follows your hours | Follows | Picks up changes in about |
|---|---|---|---|
| Door auto-unlock | Doors held unlocked on a schedule. See Schedule tab (auto-unlock). | Staffed and holiday hours | 15 minutes |
| Display screens | Power schedule and Brightness. See Display Automations and Brightness. | Staffed and holiday hours | 5 minutes |
| Display screens | Timer/bell volume and Power off after last check-in. See Templated content (available where templated content is enabled for your location) and Check-in power. | Staffed hours | 5 minutes |
| Audio (Sonos) | Music start/stop, Auto volume and Pause music after last check-in, at facilities with display screens. See Audio Control Settings. | Staffed hours | 5 minutes |
| Workflows | Workflow triggers for staffed, unstaffed and holiday hours, and the "is extended hours" condition | Staffed, unstaffed and holiday hours | 1 minute |
For example, display screens set to Facility staffed hours turn on and off with your staffed hours, and follow your holiday hours on holidays. See Facility staffed hours or a custom schedule.
When changes take effect
Devices can take up to 15 minutes to pick up changes to your hours, as the table shows. Changes reach devices only after you click Save changes. If you change the hours for today, check the doors, screens or music after that time. Display Automations' Next 7 days chart shows when screens will be on against your new hours.
Before you change your hours
- Check the time zone. Every automation runs in the facility's time zone. See Time zone.
- Check Used by. A change to staffed hours can unlock a door or switch screens at the new times. A hospital outpatient clinic that shortens its reception hours, for example, also shortens the time its waiting room screens are on.
- Use a holiday block for one-off days, rather than editing the week's hours and changing them back. See Holiday hours.
