Desktop app (Mac and Windows)

このページの内容

The AI Agent desktop app puts your facility's agent in its own window on your Mac or Windows PC. It's the remote control for your agent: the agent keeps running on its own device after you close the app, and your chats and files stay on the agent. The app installs as Performance Hub Agent, and calls your agent Agent throughout.

For what the apps do and who can use them, see AI Agent apps.

System requirements

Requirement
MacA Mac with Apple silicon. There is no version for Intel-based Macs.
WindowsWindows 10 version 1809 (build 17763) or later, 64-bit (x64). You don't need administrator rights to install it.
AccountA Performance Hub account with access to at least one agent.
NetworkAn internet connection. The app reaches your agent through Performance Hub, so there's no VPN or server address to set up.

Install on a Mac

  1. Download the Mac app (PerformanceHubAgent-mac-arm64.dmg).
  2. Open the downloaded file, then drag the app into your Applications folder.
  3. Open the app from Applications.
  4. The first time you open it, macOS asks whether you're sure you want to open an app downloaded from the internet. Click Open.

The app is signed and notarised for macOS, so this is the only prompt you should see.

Install on Windows

  1. Download the Windows installer (PerformanceHubAgent-win-x64-setup.exe).
  2. Run the downloaded file.
  3. Microsoft Defender SmartScreen shows a warning first, because the installer isn't code-signed yet. Click More info, then Run anyway.
  4. There's no install folder to choose. The installer's only option is Create a desktop shortcut, which is off unless you tick it.
  5. On the last page, leave the option to open the app ticked to start it straight away.

The installer sets up the app for your Windows user only and adds it to the Start menu. If the app is already running, the installer closes it first.

  1. When you're signed out, the app shows a welcome screen: "Already use Performance Hub? Sign in with the same account." Click Sign in with Performance Hub.
  2. Sign-in opens in your default browser, and the app shows Finish signing in in your browser. Sign in to Performance Hub as you normally do. To open the sign-in page again, click Open browser again. To stop, click Cancel.
  3. When you've signed in, the browser hands you back to the app. Finish within 10 minutes of starting, or start again from the app.

No Performance Hub account yet? Create an account opens the Performance Hub sign-up page.

The app keeps you signed in, storing your sign-in encrypted on the computer, until Performance Hub ends your session. If the computer has no secure storage available, you're signed in only until you quit the app.

Choose an agent

After you sign in, Choose an Agent lists "the Agents your Performance Hub account can use", grouped by facility.

  • Each agent shows whether it's Online or Offline. The one the app is using is marked Current.
  • Use Search Agents to find one by name, and Refresh to update the list.
  • Click Connect on the agent you want.

If the list is empty, the app shows No Agents yet: your account doesn't have access to any agents. Ask your facility administrator, or the agent's owner, to give you access. See Access control.

To change agents later, use Switch Agent or Manage Agents…. Each agent has its own chats, files and Published Apps.

Welcome screens

The first time you connect, a few short screens set the app up for you. You can change everything later in Settings, and see the screens again from Settings > Welcome screens > Show again.

  1. Performance Hub: Agent introduces the app: hand your agent a task, like a report, an email to your customers or a new app, and it keeps working while you get on with your day.
  2. How much do you want to see? Choose Simple ("Your chats and your Agent. Nothing else in the way.") or Advanced ("Every panel: terminal, review, layouts and the tools behind them.").
  3. Where should the app open? Choose Bot mode (marked Recommended) or Session mode. Each option lists what it shows. To switch later, open the menu at the top of the sidebar and pick the other mode.
  4. Pick a look: Light, Dark, or System, which follows your computer.
  5. You're all set ends with four tips (Your Agent is its own computer, Files live on the Agent, One Agent, everywhere and Need more Agents?). Click Start.

Getting around

The side menu lists Sessions, Connected Apps & Capabilities, Published Apps, Memory, Kanban, Artifacts, Scheduled jobs and More, followed by Customize, Account, Settings and Agent settings.

  • Sessions holds your conversations with the agent. New session starts another.
  • Connected Apps & Capabilities and Published Apps are described below.
  • Scheduled jobs are the agent's scheduled tasks. See Automations.
  • Customize ("Customize the side menu") changes what the side menu shows.
  • Agent settings opens Device Management for this agent in Performance Hub. See Device management.
  • Balance & top-ups shows your facility's Model Router credit. See Budgets & top-ups.

Other controls:

  • Switch between Session mode and Bot mode changes how the app opens.
  • Show Agent's files opens the agent's workspace folder on the right of the window. Use Browse folders to look around and Back to the workspace to return. Hide Agent's files closes it. The files are on the agent, not on your computer. See Workspace, files & wiki.

Some features stay in Performance Hub, and the app opens them in your browser: publishing apps, the Skill Library, device configuration and Model Router.

Connected Apps & Capabilities

Connected Apps & Capabilities has three tabs: Connected Apps first, then Skills and Tools. It's the same set of connections as Connected Apps in Performance Hub.

On the Connected Apps tab:

  • Your Agent asked for lists the apps your agent has asked you to connect. Connected lists the apps already connected.
  • Suites ("Connect a set of apps with one sign-in.") and Built-in services ("Included with every Agent. Nothing to sign in to.") sit above Featured and All apps, which you can filter with All categories.
  • Click Connect on an app, or Connect all on a suite. Sign-in continues in your browser: click Continue in browser, and the app waits with Finish connecting in your browser.
  • For a connected app, Manage lets you Add another account, Rename an account, or Disconnect it. Account name (optional) helps you tell accounts apart, for example "Front desk inbox" or "Bookings calendar".
  • An app marked Needs reconnecting has lost its sign-in. Click Reconnect.
  • Use your own OAuth app takes a Redirect URL, Client ID and Client secret, if you'd rather connect through an OAuth app you've registered with the provider yourself.

If you see "You can't manage this Agent's Connected Apps", your access to this agent doesn't include managing its connections. Ask the agent's owner or your facility administrator.

When the agent needs an app you haven't connected, a banner says "Your Agent wants to use" the app, with Open Connected Apps.

The Skills tab lists the agent's skills. Skill Library ("Add skills from the Performance Hub Skill Library") opens the Skill Library in Performance Hub. The Tools tab lists the agent's tools; search it with "Search tools, built-in services and plugins".

Published Apps

Published Apps lists "Web apps and services your Agent is running", such as a reception welcome board, a café menu board or a room bookings page. With none yet, it shows No published apps.

  • Open an app with View in Session, or Open in New Window to give it a window of its own.
  • The other actions are Edit…, Hide and Show, Publish App… and Manage Published App…. Publishing itself happens in Performance Hub.
  • An open app has Back, Forward and Reload controls, and Service settings, where you set its Name and Icon.
  • An app can carry the warning Exposed on the local network.

See Apps for your screens for what your agent can build and publish.

Memory

Memory shows "What your Agent has learned across chats, on its own." See Memory.

Status banners

Banners at the top of the window tell you what the agent is doing:

Choosing a high-cost model

The app warns you before you pick a high-cost model. See Models in Model Router.

Settings

Open Settings from the side menu. The Agent section holds the Performance Hub settings:

Settings marked "This is managed by Performance Hub." are locked in the app.

To sign out, use Performance Hub account. The app asks Sign out of Performance Hub? and explains: "This app disconnects from your Agent until you sign in again. Your chats stay on the Agent."

Permissions and privacy

  • Your sign-in is stored encrypted on the computer. Your chats and files are on the agent, not on your computer.
  • On Windows, the installer registers a link for your Windows user only, so your browser can hand you back to the app after you sign in. Uninstalling removes it.

Updates

How it updates
MacThe app updates itself in the background.
WindowsThe app doesn't update itself. It says "This build doesn't update itself. Install new versions from Performance Hub." To update, download the Windows installer again and run it. It upgrades the installed app in place.

The download links always give you the latest version.

Your agent's own software updates separately, from Performance Hub. If the agent is too old for the app, the app says "This Agent needs an update before the desktop app can use it." The agent updates automatically. Try again later, or keep using it in Performance Hub. See Software updates.

Languages

The app's general interface is available in English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, Russian, French, German and Spanish. The Performance Hub screens, such as sign-in, Choose an Agent, the welcome screens, Connected Apps and Published Apps, are in English.

Uninstall

Uninstalling the app doesn't affect your agent: your chats and files stay on the agent.

  • Mac: quit the app, then drag it from Applications to the Bin.
  • Windows: open Settings > Apps > Installed apps, find the app, and choose Uninstall.

If you're handing the computer to someone else, sign out in the app first.
