Roles and permissions
Duress separates responding to alarms from configuring them, so front-line staff can respond without being able to change who is alerted. Access is given through roles, like every other Performance Hub module.
Quick reference
Where to find it: Settings (cog icon) → Identity and Access Management → Roles
Who can access: Organisation admins, and people whose role includes Identity and Access Management
Purpose: Give responders and admins the Duress access they need, and no more
The two modules
| Module | What it allows |
|---|---|
| Duress | Respond to alarms: Home, Incidents and Reports, acknowledging and resolving alarms, posting updates and staff notes, and starting and ending tests |
| Duress Settings | Configure Duress: the response plan, response actions, device alerts, integrations, button labels and links, and test schedules |
Devices, Testing and the settings open with either module, but changing them needs Duress Settings. Duress needs Device Management, so adding Duress to a role adds Device Management too.
What each task needs
| Task | Needs |
|---|---|
| Acknowledge, resolve and post on an alarm | Duress |
| Start or end a test | Duress |
| Change the response plan, response actions or device alerts | Duress Settings |
| Change a button's label, room, zone or links | Duress Settings |
| Book or edit test schedules | Duress Settings |
| Release kept footage | Duress Settings |
| Add, move or remove a button | Device Management |
| Unlock doors or lift a lockdown from an incident | Duress and Door & Gate Access |
| See the facility's integrations | Duress Settings or External Integrations |
| Set up the monitoring centre | External Integrations |
| Book organisation-wide test schedules | Organisation Administrator, or Duress Settings across the whole organisation |
Adding, moving and removing buttons also needs Device Management. Door controls also need Door & Gate Access.
